patrick rothfussGollancz, an imprint of the Orion Publishing Group, are delighted to announce the acquisition of UK and Commonwealth Rights to a new title from the award-nominated Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author, Patrick Rothfuss. THE SLOW REGARD OF SILENT THINGS is a must-read novella set in Pat Rothfuss’s extraordinary Kingkiller Universe.

With his first two Kingkiller novels, THE NAME OF THE WIND and THE WISE MAN’S FEAR, Patrick Rothfuss created the most exciting, and exceptionally commercial, fantasy world since George R. R. Martin’s A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE.  More than 500, 000 copies of the KINGKILLER novels and audio books have been sold in the UK to date.

An enchanting new novella, and a must-read for fans, THE SLOW REGARD OF SILENT THINGS focuses on one of the most popular and intriguing characters from this world. Due for publication in November 2014, the novel will be priced at £12.99 in hardback with the eBook edition retailing for just £6.99.

Gollancz Publishing Director, Gillian Redfearn, said: ‘I’ve adored Patrick Rothfuss’ writing from the moment The Name of the Wind landed on my desk and, with a hefty thump, signalled the arrival of an exceptional new writer in the genre. I’m beyond delighted that Gollancz will bring a new tale from the Kingkiller universe to readers – and as a reader I have, once again, been blown away by Pat’s storytelling skill.’
