Cover Reveal! The Colour of Magic &The Light Fantastic
Ever since we announced the existence of the Discworld Collector’s Library, we’ve been consistently asked two things:
1. Will the books after Jingo be published in this style?
and
2. Can we see the cover for The Colour of Magic?
We’ve recently answered Question 1 by way of an update to the announcement (repeated below) and now we are able to answer the second question. And the answer is: ‘Why, yes you can – and here it is!’
Cover artist extraordinaire, Joe McLaren, has – we’re sure you’ll agree – hit it out of the park again with these wonderful covers for the first two Discworld books, The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic, featuring his own unique take on such Discworld favourites as Rincewind, Twoflower, Cohen the Barbarian, A’Tuin the Great and, of course, the Luggage. These books will be published on 7th August and will be the final two books in the Discworld Collector’s Library (so far as we know at this point in time – again, please see below).
And what better time to share these gorgeous covers than on the day that those of you in possession of the latest Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Collector’s Edition 2014 Calendar will know as ‘Creator’s Birthday’?
We hope you like these covers as much as we do and we’re sure you’ll join with all at Gollancz to wish Sir Terry Pratchett a very Happy Birthday!
N.B. Many of you are asking whether the series will continue after Jingo. The short answer is: we don’t know. The slightly longer answer is that we do not control rights in any of the Discworld books after Jingo; they are published by Transworld. At the moment, we know of no firm plans on their part to continue the Collector’s Library, but if that changes we’ll certainly note it on the Gollancz blog. We now return you to your regular viewing . . . and a competition!
To celebrate our cover reveal we’re giving away two sets of all of the Discworld Collector’s Library Books published so far including: Mort, Reaper Man, Soul Music, Hogfather, Pyramids, Small Gods, Sourcery, Eric, Guards! Guards!, Men at Arms, Equal Rites, Wyrd Sisters, Interesting Times and Moving Pictures. To enter fill in the form below. Good luck!
