The World Fantasy Awards

Huge congratulations to the winners of the World Fantasy Awards, which were presented over the weekend at the World Fantasy Convention in Brighton.  It’s become something of a cliché to say that it’s an honour simply to be nominated, but a quick look down the list of nominees shows the incredible depth of talent in the current world of Fantasy literature and reminds us that clichés only become clichés because of their underlying truth.

But, as exciting as the present and future of Fantasy look, here at SF Gateway, we’re more concerned with the legacy of SF & Fantasy, and from that point of view we were delighted to see the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement presented to Tanith Lee, author of The Silver Metal Lover – among many other fine books – much of whose backlist we are privileged to publish, and Susan Cooper, author of the much-loved The Dark is Rising sequence.

Also decorated were artists Vincent Chong, whose wonderful work has graced a number of our SF Masterworks recently, and, of course, the hugely popular decision to present World Fantasy Special Awards to William F. Nolan and Brian W. Aldiss.

Many congratulations to all!
