After a long delay, Gollancz is very pleased to have published Time of Contempt by Andrzej Sapkowski. We’re sorry for the wait, which was out of our hands, but thrilled to get a chance to reintroduce readers to the world of Geralt, the Witcher. You may only know the computer games, which have been hugely successful (and the third one, due next year, looks amazing), but they draw all of their setting and characters direct from the original books. And if you haven’t played the game or read the books before, then you’re in for a treat. There’s a reason that Sapkowski has been such a success in so many countries – his take on fantasy is new and unusual, and Geralt is one of the most distinctive characters in the genre.
Read an extract from the first chapter here, and then you can enter our competition to win one of five copies of the book. Just answer the following question:
How much did the Witcher get for the manticore?
